"End Hunger: Walk the World"
This is an annual event to raise money and awareness for the efforts of
the World Food Program to fight child hunger and malnutrition. The Walk
is a joint effort of WFP and its corporate partners, led by TNT, Unilever and
DSM. Employees from these companies walk with WFP Goodwill Ambassadors,
staff, and beneficiaries as well as government and NGO partners to show their
solidarity in the fight against hunger and malnutrition. On June 6, 2010, an
estimated 150,000 of people took to the streets in 70 countries around the world
to show their support for the work of the United Nations World Food Programme
(WFP) in the fight against global hunger. The 2010 edition of the annual ‘End
Hunger: Walk the World’ initiative raised enough money to provide a whole year
of meals for more than 10,000 school children.
Walk the World OKC 2011 is a youth led grassroots walk
aiming to raise awareness of local and global child hunger
and help the efforts of institutions fighting the problem
through school meals for children.
